2011 Solar Decathlon

West Potomac Park, Washington, DC
(Just west of the New Martin Luther King Memorial)
The U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon brings college teams from around the world to erect solar-powered houses in West Potomac Park, where they are open to the public from 10:00am to 2:00 pm (weekdays) or 5:00pm (weekends). The houses compete on the basis of affordability, consumer appeal, energy production, and efficiency. The event also features free consumer and building industry workshops.

21st Annual Tour of Solar Homes
(DC, Maryland, and Virginia)
Saturday & Sunday, October 1-2, 2011, 11am - 5pm
Houses and buildings with many solar, wind, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly features will be open to the public on the first weekend in October. The tour is part of the National Tour of Solar Homes of the American Solar Energy Society.
